Dili, 08/01/2025: The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MESCC, acronym in Portuguese), through its National Directorate of Higher Education (DNES), recently held the official opening ceremony for the process of correcting the exam score sheets for candidates in the special regime and forwarding school records to the General Regime Department as part of the access process to Public Higher Education Institutions (IESP: UNTL and IPB) for the academic year 2025. The opening ceremony took place in the MESCC Meeting Hall in Colmera-Dili and was officially inaugurated by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Dr. José Honório.
In his speech to the Higher Education Access Commission (CAES), His Excellency the Minister emphasized that the Commission team must work rigorously and diligently to ensure that the score sheet correction process proceeds in compliance with the requirements established by the Commission (CAES). The Minister also highlighted that candidates wishing to continue their studies in Higher Education must take the test, which serves as the mechanism to select candidates who meet the requirements to access Public Higher Education (UNTL and IPB).
During his address, Dr. José Honório also mentioned that the Higher Education Law provides opportunities for Timorese citizens to enhance their educational levels, from diploma to bachelor’s degree.
Additionally, the Director-General of Higher Education and Science, Ms. Maria Filomena Lay Guterres, who also serves as the Chair of the Higher Education Access Commission (CAES), expressed her gratitude to all attendees at the ceremony, especially representatives from relevant Ministries and institutions such as the F-FDTL and PNTL. The Magnificent Rector of UNTL, Dr. João Soares Martins, and the President of IPB, Dr. Acácio C. Amaral, were also present at the ceremony.
Ms. Maria Filomena Lay Guterres further announced that the results of the correction of the exam score sheets for candidates (IESP: UNTL and IPB) would be announced at the end of this month, according to the CAES’s scheduled plan.
Attending the opening ceremony were His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Dr. José Honório, the Chair of CAES, Ms. Maria Filomena Lay Guterres, the Vice-Chair of CAES, Mr. Higino Alves, the Chair of CCLN, Mr. Vidal de Jesus – Riak Leman, the Representative of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Jeremias Gomes, the Magnificent Rector of UNTL, Dr. João Soares Martins, the President of IPB, Dr. Acácio C. Amaral, the Representative of F-FDTL, Mr. Colonel Domingos do Camara, the Representative of PNTL, as well as National Directors of the Ministry of Higher Education and the technical team of the Higher Education Access Commission (CAES).
