Liquiçá, 08/09/2024: The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MESCC) visited the President of the Liquiçá Municipal Authority to discuss Liquiçá’s preparations for receiving His Holiness Pope Francis in Timor, at the PAM Liquiçá Hall.
In today’s meeting, preparations for the Holy Father’s visit to Timor-Leste were discussed. The President of the Liquiçá Municipal Authority also stated that the preparations are going well and are coordinated with the parishes of the administrative posts, where a large meeting will be held on August 23, with the participation of villages, sucos, administrative posts, and the municipality itself.
Liquiçá will also participate in the Pope’s visit along with 35,000 people who will gather at the grand mass on the beach, according to the guidelines of the National Organizing Committee, led by the state administration administrator and the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, who received instructions from the Prime Minister to coordinate with the President of the Liquiçá Municipal Authority to discuss preparations.
The President of the Liquiçá Municipal Authority, Mr. Paulino Ribeiro, also explained that during this period, PAM Liquiçá has already held meetings with the parish priests and all the involved parties, and that the budget allocated to the municipality is nearly 40,000, which has already been received by the authority’s office. They have also received a proposal from the police to cover transportation, food, and other expenses.
