CUIS HOLDS MEETING FOR PRESENTATION OF STUDY VISIT AND PUBLIC SUBSIDY MONITORING REPORTS

Díli, 14/11/2024: The Coordinating Committee for Universities and Institutes (CUIS – acronym in Portuguese) held a meeting to update and present the report on the study visit and monitoring of public subsidy funds. This activity was conducted together with CUIS members in the MESCC hall, Colmera, Díli.

The meeting, held over the course of one day, aimed to hear presentations from each of the six delegation teams that, three months ago, conducted study visits to countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Portugal, and the Philippines, as part of CUIS’s program. In parallel, reports were also presented by CUIS monitoring teams that carried out oversight in 17 Private Higher Education Institutions benefiting from public subsidy funds, with the purpose of monitoring the execution of these funds in each institution.

The study visits conducted by CUIS teams are part of programs such as cooperation with international institutions in the diaspora, with the aim of fostering collaboration and joint efforts to implement CUIS’s main programs, such as the establishment of postdoctoral schools, the establishment of the National Qualification System, and other programs aimed at improving the quality of Higher Education in Timor-Leste.

Furthermore, in the session dedicated to the presentation of monitoring reports by CUIS teams, progress and the execution of public subsidy funds transferred to Higher Education Institutions were assessed. Based on the results of these presentations, the meeting also aimed to define an action plan for the next steps, grounded on the results of the reports and presentations from each team.

The meeting also included the participation of the Director-General of Planning and Finance, Mr. Hernâni Viterbo da Costa Soares, the Director-General of Higher Education and Science, Ms. Maria Filomena Lay Guterres, along with other CUIS members and technicians from MESCC itself.
