MHESC OPENS EXAM GRADING FOR CANDIDATES APPLYING FOR ADMISSION TO PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION FOR THE 2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

Díli, December 19, 2025 — The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MHESC), through the Higher Education Access Commission (CAES), officially opened the exam grading process for candidates seeking admission to public higher education institutions, namely the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL) and the Polytechnic Institute of Betano (IPB), for the 2026 academic year.

This activity is carried out in accordance with Ministerial Diploma No. 20/2025 of July 9, concerning “Access and Admission to Public Higher Education at UNTL and IPB,” and is implemented in cooperation with the relevant services of UNTL, IPB, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the Ministry of State Administration, the Ministry of Education, and the Council of National Liberation Combatants (CCLN).

A total of 1,688 candidates registered for access to public higher education institutions under the Special Regime. Of these, 1,180 are women and 508 are men.

The symbolic opening was officially launched by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Dr. José Honório, accompanied by the Director General of Higher Education and Science, the Director General of Planning and Finance, and the Inspector General. The event was also attended by the Rector and Vice-Rector of UNTL, the representative of the President of IPB, the Coordinator of the Office of the Ministry of Education, members of CAES, as well as leaders, technical staff, and employees of MHESC.
