Díli, 04/12/2024: In recent days, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MESCC), through the Directorate-General of Higher Education and Science (DGES), organized the activity titled “Knowledge Olympiad”, aimed at students from Higher Education Institutions (HEI). The competition took place at the Fundação Oriente over three (3) days, from December 2 to 4, 2024.
This program is a continuation of the SCI-TECH 2024 activity, an initiative by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. José Ramos-Horta, aimed at promoting tourism in Timor-Leste. The program also included areas such as science, technology, and innovation, targeting both the general public and institutions in the human resources capacity-building sector. The main goal of the Olympiad is to enhance the capacities and scientific knowledge of university students in the fields of Science and Technology.
Within the scope of this program, the MESCC worked closely with the Office of the Presidency of the Republic during the process of implementing the aforementioned activities.
A total of thirty-nine (39) competitors participated in the competition, representing nine (9) Higher Education Institutions. The competition covered two (2) areas: Law and Economics, with participants competing over three (3) days.
The observers or jury members for the Olympiad were trainers from the MESCC’s Training Department, led by the department coordinator, Mrs. Suzana Mendonça, alongside her team.
