Likisa, 29/10/2024: The monitoring team for the CUIS Public Subsidy Fund, led by the Director-General of Planning and Finance at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MESSC), Mr. Hernâni Viterbo da Costa Soares, carried out the monitoring of the execution of public subsidy funds allocated by the government through the Ministry to Private Higher Education Institutions in Timor-Leste. This activity included visits to ISJB and UNPAZ in the Likisa Municipality.
The purpose of this activity was to monitor the progress of the execution of funds transferred by the Ministry to the Institutions and Universities, according to the needs previously defined in the contracts signed between each higher education institution and the Ministry. During the visit, the team observed and supervised the infrastructures implemented with the funds received by the mentioned Higher Education Institutions.
The Government of Timor-Leste, through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, has recently allocated a sum of 5 million dollars to the Public Subsidy Fund, aiming to support Private Higher Education Institutions. This support aims to strengthen the needs of the Institutions and Universities.
The fund allocation method follows a phased process. Initially, the Ministry transfers 40% of the total amount through a bank transfer to the Institution’s account. Once the Institution executes the projects and submits the execution report, the remaining 60% is transferred to complete the total budget defined in the contract.
