Dili, 24/06/2024: The Acting Director-General of Higher Education and Science, Mrs. AmΓ©lia da Silva AraΓΊjo, accompanied by four technicians, attended a workshop on “Trade and Investment Negotiation,” organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation through the Directorate-General for ASEAN Affairs, at the Novo Turismo Hotel in Dili.

The program by MFAC was implemented in collaboration with Australia’s Partnership for Inclusive Prosperity (PROSIVU) program, aiming to conduct a training workshop on “Timor-Leste’s Accession and Integration into the ASEAN Economic Community – Trade and Investment Negotiations.”

The workshop’s objective is to equip government officials, negotiators, and technicians with essential skills to develop a market access timeline and prepare for trade and investment negotiations with ASEAN Member States, supporting Timor-Leste’s commitment to becoming a full member of ASEAN.

According to the established agenda, the workshop will be held throughout this week, from June 24 to 28, 2024, at the same venue, featuring a series of activities including presentations on agreement requirements and roadmap, an introduction to ASEAN and its contents, discussion sessions, among other activities.
