Aileu, 17/09/2024: A team from the Higher Education Access Commission (CAES – Portuguese acronym), of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture, conducted an activity to disseminate information regarding “Access to Public Higher Education Institutions (UNTL & IPB) 2025”, which took place at the Cristal Higher Institute (ISC) Hall in the Aileu Branch.
The objective of this activity was to disseminate information about the procedures and requirements necessary for accessing Public Higher Education Institutions (UNTL and IPB), directed towards local authorities, secondary school directors, veterans, and other relevant institutions in the Aileu Municipality.
In the opening session, the representative of Education for Aileu Municipality, Mr. Miguel Moniz, urged those present at the meeting to listen carefully and disseminate the information to the wider community, in order to increase the participation of young people from Aileu and give them the opportunity to access the two (2) aforementioned public institutions.
Furthermore, the National Director of Legalization (DNL-MESCC), Mr. Sérgio de Deus, in his brief opening remarks, called on local authorities to pay attention, as it is they who issue the declaration letters for candidates seeking access through the merit-based sub-regime, thus providing opportunities for candidates in economically disadvantaged conditions to continue their studies in Public Higher Education Institutions.
This activity is a regular annual action by the MESCC, aimed at ensuring transparency and accessibility for the entire public throughout the national territory. This year, based on Ministerial Decree No. 54/2024, of July 25, concerning “Access to Public Higher Education for the Year 2025”, the CAES is granted the competence to proceed with the recruitment process for new students aiming to access public higher education institutions (UNTL and IPB), through two (2) regimes: the General Regime and Sub-regime 2, and the Special Regime with a combined sub-regime 16.
Therefore, the dissemination session in the municipality of Aileu was presented by the National Director of Legalization (DNL), Mr. Sérgio de Deus, together with technicians from MESSC, UNTL and IPB. It was attended by the representative of the President of the Municipality of Aileu, local authorities and their representatives, school directors, and also relevant institutions.
