Malaysia, 02/12/2024: His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Dr. José Honório, together with other government members, accompanied His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, during a meeting with the Malaysian Government to discuss matters of interest regarding bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various areas.
In the official meeting, led by His Excellency the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim, and the Government of Timor-Leste, discussions also focused on the bilateral support that the Malaysian Government has provided to Timor-Leste, particularly regarding Timor-Leste’s accession as a member of ASEAN. Furthermore, opportunities for cooperation between the two governments in various fields, such as education, social issues, and other areas that could benefit both Timor-Leste and Malaysia, were addressed.
During the visit, His Excellency Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão also participated in several activities and official meetings at the governmental level, organized by the Malaysian Government and local institutions. Among the events, a notable highlight was an audience with the King of Malaysia, His Majesty the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, at the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur.
