Betano, 28/06/2024: His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Dr. JosΓ© HonΓ³rio, along with his team, made an official visit to the Betano Polytechnic Institute (IPB) to discuss the future progress and updates to the IPB system, in connection with the recently approved Basic Law on Higher Education No. 5/VI/2024 by the National Parliament.
The purpose of this visit was to hold a meeting with the IPB Structure to discuss the necessary future reforms to improve the quality of IPB, especially in terms of administration and management, in line with the IX Government’s program and the presence of the approved Basic Law on Higher Education, which can serve as a guideline for IPB to confer study degrees currently existing from Diploma II to Diploma III.
In this session, His Excellency the Minister also affirmed the IX Government’s program regarding investment in the Polytechnic to contribute to strengthening the Education sector in the country through continued investment in infrastructure reinforcement and the creation of other polytechnics, such as the Lospalos Polytechnic Institute, which is planned for implementation in the near future.
Furthermore, the President of the Betano Polytechnic Institute, Dr. AcΓ‘cio Cardoso, informed that IPB has a specific commission to look into the curriculum development to confer degrees from Diploma II to Diploma III. Thus, when the Basic Law on Higher Education is promulgated by His Excellency the President of the Republic, they will submit their proposal to reform the existing study degree levels.
In this session, His Excellency the Minister and his team also visited to directly observe the construction process of the future new IPB building, which is in the landscaping phase, reaching 90% completion. According to the plan, after this landscaping phase, the next stage will focus on the completion of all packages, which will include the building’s infrastructure and all its facilities.
