The special guests who participated and gave lectures at the seminar included representatives from the National Government of Indonesia, such as the Indonesian Ministry of Education, and local businesspeople from the tourism sector. Among the international guests, Timor-Leste was represented by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Dr. José Honório, along with representatives from other countries, such as China, Switzerland, and Vietnam.

In his speech, His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture stated: “Timor-Leste also considers tourism an important sector that can contribute to sustainable economic development. For this reason, at the national university level in Timor-Leste, a faculty of tourism will be opened at the National University of Timor-Lorosa’e (UNTL) and, also, at the technical higher education level, a polytechnic tourism campus will be opened. This polytechnic is part of a collaboration with the Bandung Institute of Technology, which will help develop the technical design that will begin implementation in 2025.”

The next step in this collaboration will be the development of human resources to manage the two higher education institutions. Therefore, all collaborative efforts will be carried out through cooperation agreements for human resource capacity building, as defined in the Government to Government Agreement (G to G Agreement) signed between Indonesia and Timor-Leste.”

The participants who attended the seminar included 500 teachers from the vocational technical education sector specializing in tourism in Indonesia.

During the seminar session, His Excellency the Minister was accompanied by the Office of the Educational, Commercial, and Security Attaché, as well as technicians from the Ministry itself.
