Staff from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture participate in an Immersion Study Visit in ASEAN countries, through the Future Leaders for ASEAN Program, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, to better understand ASEAN issues, and thus support Timor-Leste in its preparation to become a full member of ASEAN in the future.
The technical team participating in this activity, with departure dates varying from June 15 to 16, 2024, will be distributed according to each team’s respective destination countries. The objective of this study visit, with a main focus on three study areasโHuman Development, Sustainability, and Economic Growthโis to provide participants with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and study strategies that can support sectors related to these areas. This effort aims to contribute to Timor-Leste’s integration into ASEAN, particularly in aligning with existing systems within ASEAN.
During the activities of this Study Visit, participants will engage in visits and discussions to exchange ideas and knowledge with institutions in strategic sectors of each destination country, such as the public and private sectors, companies, universities, international institutions, tourism, and other sectors that significantly contribute to the sustainable development of each destination country.

Participants in this program come from both the public and private sectors, including government institutions, NGOs, university students, national and international agencies, as well as entrepreneurs and innovators (freelancers).
According to the existing plan, the study visit activity will be conducted over 10 days, following the schedule stipulated for each team in their respective destination countries.
