Dili, 21/05/2024: The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture celebrated the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the meeting room of MESCC, in Colmera, Dili, with the company Daikyo Industrial Gas & Equipment from Brunei Darussalam, for the provision of scholarships to Timorese individuals wishing to pursue further studies in Brunei.
The objective of this agreement is to focus on human resource development, through the provision of scholarships for Timorese individuals to continue their studies in the Nation of Brunei Darussalam, with the aim of enhancing the skills of Timorese human resources in specialties identified as prioritized needs.
The referenced company had previously offered scholarships to Timor-Leste, coordinated by the Partnership and Cooperation Unit – MESSK in the preceding months, having selected two (2) scholarship recipients through the merit-based competition of the Daikyo Industrial Gas & Equipment, Friendship Scholarship Program (Brunei Darussalam) for the year 2024, who will continue their studies at the Diploma III level, at Laksamana College of Business (LCB), in the field of Hospitality, in Brunei Darussalam.
In this session, “His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Dr. JosΓ© HonΓ³rio, expresses gratitude to the company Daikyo for providing the opportunity of scholarships for Timorese individuals to continue their studies in the field of Tourism and Hospitality, and at the same time informs that the Ministry is already planning to further strengthen cooperation between Timor-Leste and Brunei in the Higher Education sector.”
The agreement was officially signed by the Director-General of Higher Education and Science, Ms. Maria Filomena Lay Guterres, together with Daikyo, witnessed by the participants, His Excellency the Minister of MESCC, Dr. JosΓ© HonΓ³rio, His Excellency the Ambassador of Brunei, the Delegation of MNEC, the Daikyo delegation, and other relevant entities.
