Díli, 14/11/2024: His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MESCC), accompanied by the Coordinator of the Coordinating Commission for Universities and Higher Institutes (CUIS, Portuguese acronym) and technical staff, held a meeting with the delegation from the University of Minho, Portugal, in the Minister’s office meeting room to discuss future cooperation between the two institutions in the field of Higher Education.
The delegation from the University of Minho, led by the Honorable Rector, Dr. Rui Vieira, and his team, aimed to discuss the cooperation to be established between the university and the ministry through CUIS. The primary focus of the discussion was on areas such as teacher training, which CUIS has identified as one of its key collective strategies to enhance the quality of the Higher Education sector. This strategy includes partnerships with national and international universities and institutions to promote the mentioned training program.
The importance of the doctoral school was also highlighted, aiming to improve the quality of teachers and researchers, particularly in the areas of teaching, research, and scientific publication. Therefore, it is necessary to raise the current quality of many teachers, who are evaluated at a C level (sufficient), to levels of Very Good and Excellent.
The meeting was also attended by CUIS member Dr. João Câncio Freitas and MESCC Executive Advisor Dr. Filipe Martins, along with the Vice-Rector of the University of Minho.
