1ST JDS OPERATING COMMITTEE MEETING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS JUST STARTED

On 22 August 2024, the first Operating Committee Meeting for the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) was organized, discussing the application and selection procedures for the 2024 JDS Program.

The OC members confirmed that the application for JDS 2024 (Master’s program) would commence from 26 August until 15 November 2024.

The JDS Operating Committee is comprised of representatives from the following organizations:

The purpose of the JDS program is to provide scholarship opportunities for public servants of Timor-Leste to pursue graduate studies, including PhD in Japan. The areas of studies include the improvement of public administration and legal system; public service delivery improvement; industrial policy; and the promotion of environmental policy and natural resource management.

Through JDS scholarship program, 44 Timorese civil servants have received scholarship support since the inauguration of JDS in 2018 in Timor-Leste. 22 of them have already returned with their master’s degrees from Japanese universities, who are now supporting policy formulation and public service delivery.
