The regional session of the SEAMEO RIHED 2024 Governing Board Meeting (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization – Regional Centre for Higher Education Development) took place in Timor-Leste over two days. On October 11, 2024, the 32nd SEAMEO RIHED Governing Board Member Meeting was held, followed by the 16th ASEAN Higher Education Senior Officer Meeting (SEA-HIED SOM) on October 12, 2024.
During the visit of the SEAMEO RIHED delegation, a welcome ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture to receive representatives from member countries, showcasing the culture and traditions of Timor-Leste.
The welcome ceremony was led by the Director-General for Higher Education and Science, Ms. Maria Filomena Lay Guterres, with the participation of the Chief of Staff of MESCC, Mr. José Boavida, representing His Excellency the Minister, along with delegations from all SEAMEO RIHED member countries.
Also present were the Inspector-General of MESCC, a representative of MNEC for ASEAN Affairs, the National Director of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, Mr. Pedro Laranjeira, as well as other leaders and technical staff from MESCC.
