by π Manufahi | June 26, 2025: The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture, H.E. Dr. JosΓ© HonΓ³rio da Costa Pereira JerΓ³nimo, participated today in the inauguration ceremony of the new President of the Polytechnic Institute of Betano (PIB), Mr. Alcino da Costa I. A. Fernandes, elected for the 2025-2029 term.
In his speech, the Minister congratulated the new President and emphasized that he assumes a great responsibility in leading a higher education institution that requires commitment to the development of the polytechnic area in East Timor. Likewise, His Excellency the Minister thanked the outgoing President, Dr. AcΓ‘cio C. Amaral, and acknowledged his effort, work and dedication over the eight years he led PIB.
The ceremony took place at PIB’s premises and was attended by representatives of MHESC, ANAAA, INCT, CFP and the Veterans’ Council, as well as the PNTL and the F-FDTL in Manufahi, in addition to teachers, staff and students.
