Jakarta, June 10, 2024: A team from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, composed of a delegation from Timor-Leste and the Office of the Education AttachΓ© stationed in Indonesia, held a meeting with the Trisakti Tourism Institute and Trisakti University in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The purpose of this activity was to discuss technical issues related to the cooperation that will be established with these institutions, especially in the areas of human resources training, exchanges, scholarship offers, and other study opportunities that will be offered to Timor-Leste and also to Higher Education Institutions in Timor, aiming to improve the quality of Higher Education in Timor-Leste and contribute to the sustainable development of human capital.

In the meeting with the Trisakti Tourism Institute, relevant technical issues related to tourism were discussed, to explore and discuss the possibility of cooperation in supporting Timor-Leste, especially in collaboration for the establishment of the Polytechnic Institute of Lospalos (IPL), which is already defined in the National Strategic Development Plan (PEDN) and will be implemented soon. This includes the offering of scholarships in the field of tourism, support for capacity building, and cooperation with Higher Education Institutions in Timor-Leste through exchanges and other activities. The mentioned Institute has great potential in Tourism Management and best practices in the field, being popular and well-known in ASEAN.

Additionally, the team also held a technical meeting with Trisakti University Indonesia, which specializes in engineering, to discuss future cooperation in human resources training, focusing on the scholarship offers to be provided by this Higher Education Institution for Timor-Leste.

The delegation from Timor-Leste participating in these meetings consisted of the Coordinator of the Partnership and Cooperation Unit – MESCC, Mr. Paulo Mariano, along with the Education AttachΓ© and Assistant, accompanied by the National Advisor, Mr. Joel Salsinha, Ms. Dalia Suzana, and the Project Manager – MESCC, Mr. HΓ©lio Domingos.
