Dili, 09/05/2024: The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, through the Coordinating Committee for Universities and Higher Education Institutes (CUIS), held a meeting with the 17 Magnificent Rectors of Private Higher Education Institutions in the meeting room of the MESCC, in Dili, to inform and discuss the allocation of public grants approved by the Right Honorable Prime Minister to support Private Higher Education Institutions.
The purpose of this meeting was to inform Private Higher Education Institutions about the administrative procedures and requirements that must be met by Higher Education Institutions to obtain the public grant in the amount of 5 million, which the government will allocate to the private sector, aiming to reinforce academic quality and the higher education system in Timor-Leste.
This public grant will be allocated to Higher Education Institutions according to their needs, aiming at improvements in infrastructure, administration, human resource development, among other aspects that can contribute to the improvement of the quality of institutions.
The meeting was chaired by the Director-General of Higher Education, Mrs. Maria Filomena Lay Guterres, accompanied by the Director-General of Planning and Finance, Mr. HernΓ’ni Viterbo da Costa Soares, by the Inspector-General of Audit, Mr. Domingos Barros, and by the Coordinator of CUIS, Mr. Edmundo Viegas.
According to the established process, the allocation of these funds will be based on proposals submitted by Private Higher Education Institutions and will be conducted through a contracting process that will include a timetable and procedural requirements.
