The technician from the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Mr. JΓΊlio Guterres, participates in the ASEAN Immersion Team Study Visit activity of the Future Leaders for ASEAN (FLBA) program, organized by the Vice-Minister of ASEAN Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, for 10 days, from May 18th to 28th, 2024, in Thailand.
The activity aims to empower young people to understand ASEAN through study visits to ASEAN member countries, with a primary focus on three specific areas of acceleration: Human Development, Economic Growth, and Sustainability.
Furthermore, the main objective of the program is to prepare future leaders for ASEAN who can have the appropriate skills and knowledge about ASEAN to contribute to Timor-Leste’s position and integration in ASEAN in the future, especially in preparing Timor-Leste to join as a Full Member of ASEAN.
The activities included in the study visit program consist of workshops, meetings, and visits to strategic locations such as institutions and public/private spaces linked to the three aforementioned areas of acceleration.
The participants in the team consist of representatives from both the public and private sectors, such as Care International, Plan International, SEFOPE, university students, and entrepreneurs.
