Lospalos, 07/04/2024: His Excellency, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Dr. José Honório, along with technicians from the MESCC, held a meeting with the Municipal Authority of Lautem at the Municipality Administration Hall in Lospalos Vila to raise awareness about the plan for the implementation of the Lospalos Polytechnic Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, which the government plans to establish in the near future.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the process for the implementation of the Lospalos Polytechnic Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, with the start of construction and establishment planned for the year 2025. The meeting also aimed to raise awareness about the preparation of the technicians currently involved in the process, including the design of the infrastructure, coordination, and the development of necessary technical procedures.

In accordance with Ministerial Order No. 14/III/MESCC/2024, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture has already delegated the authority to form a specific technical committee to study the establishment of technical higher education institutions in the municipalities of Covalima, Manatuto, and Lautem. This committee is responsible for coordinating technically with the authorities, relevant government departments, and identifying the necessary resources, including human and material resources.

During the session, His Excellency, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, Dr. José Honório, stated, “The establishment of these new public higher education institutions is also a political commitment of the IX Government, which plans to establish the Polytechnic Institute of Hospitality and Tourism in Lospalos, the Polytechnic Institute of Engineering in Suai, and the Academy of Fisheries and Maritime Studies in Manatuto.”

Attendees at the session included the President of the Municipal Authority of Lautem, along with their team, the technical team from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, and other relevant entities.
