A call for applications is now open for the attribution of one postdoctoral research fellowship in Functional Intelligent Materials and the application of AI for materials design, funded by the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (IFIM) – National University of Singapore (NUS), under the following conditions:
Type and number of grant(s) to be awarded: One post-doc fellowship Research Scholarship.
Scientific field(s): Physics, chemistry, materials science, and related areas.
Requirements: The Postdoctoral Research Fellowships is intended for one candidate with a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, materials science or similar.
Eligibility of candidates: Nationals or citizens of Timor-Leste.
Candidate Admission Requirements:
- Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, materials science or similar
- Permanent and habitual residence in Timor-Leste.
- Proficient command of English: candidates who graduated from universities where English is not the language of instruction are required to submit at least one score of TOEFL (min score of 85, two years from the date of the test) or IELTS (min score of 6.0, two years from the date the score was issued), as part of the application.
Application Admissibility Requirements:
- Comprehensive CV highlighting academic accomplishments and pertinent experience.
- Copies of original tertiary qualifications (legalized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture of Timor-Leste), supported by academic transcript.
Motivation letter (max 2 pages), supported by two recommendation letters from academic or professional referees, offering valuable insights into the applicant’s qualifications and research potential.
Other requirements to consider preferably:
- Research experience in the field of condensed matter, physics, material science, nanotechnology.
- Academic and professional experience in building research networks.
- Availability and commitment to establish and coordinate a research centre in Timor-Leste, which will collaborate with IFIM in the future.
- Availability and commitment to coordinate a research team for the centre of research in Timor-Leste.
Exclusivity regime: The grantee will perform the activities under exclusivity.
Unit for hosting research work and scientific guidance: The work plan will be developed at the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (IFIM), at the National University of Singapore (NUS), under the scientific supervision of Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov FRS.
Duration of the grant: The duration of the scholarship is 12 months non-renewable, starting in April 2025
Benefits: IFIM will cover the stipend as well as relocation expenses.
Time Frame: The time frame for the award process is as follows:
- Announcement of the call 22nd to 31st January 2025.
